Malaysia Gears Up for a Digital Future Under ASEAN Chairmanship

As Malaysia prepares to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, the country is taking a proactive role in shaping the region’s cybersecurity landscape. The Cyber Digital Services, Defence, and Security Asia CyberDSA 2025 officially launched by the Minister of Digital, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, represented by Deputy Minister YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, aims to bolster cybersecurity resilience, enhance international cooperation, and accelerate the integration of AI-driven security solutions.

Scheduled from September 30 to October 2, 2025, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), CyberDSA 2025 reflects Malaysia’s commitment to fostering a secure and unified digital environment across ASEAN. Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong emphasized the nation’s focus on aligning cybersecurity policies and infrastructure to ensure a cohesive approach across the region. He highlighted that CyberDSA 2025 would serve as a critical platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among governments, businesses, and academic institutions to strengthen digital security capabilities.

The event saw the participation of prominent figures, including YBhg. Encik Shakib Ahmad Shakir bin Jamaluddin, Deputy Secretary General (Strategic & Management), Ministry of Digital Malaysia, and YBhg. Tuan Al-Ishsal bin Prof. Dato’ Ishak T. Kechik, Chairman of CyberSecurity Malaysia, among other key government and industry leaders. Additionally, six major corporations—Recorded Future, a Mastercard company, MEASAT, Gigamon, Ofisgate, Exabeam, and AML Systems—formally committed to CyberDSA 2025, underscoring the growing industry interest in cybersecurity advancements.

A Leading Platform for Cybersecurity Innovation and Global Collaboration

Since its inception in 2023, CyberDSA has emerged as Malaysia’s foremost cybersecurity event, drawing participation from regulators, policymakers, military and defense authorities, chief information security officers (CISOs), and researchers worldwide. With an emphasis on cutting-edge developments and AI-powered security solutions, the event continues to be instrumental in advancing cybersecurity resilience and strengthening global competitiveness.

Themed “Pioneering the Future of a Resilient Digital Nation,” CyberDSA 2025 is expected to host over 150 exhibitors from 30 countries, 80 VIP delegations from 20 nations, and 100 distinguished speakers. According to Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Organizing Chairman of CyberDSA 2025, this edition is set to be the most ambitious yet, with a strengthened global presence and a robust agenda tackling the most pressing cybersecurity challenges.
