The company secured two prestigious awards for its initiatives in strengthening cybersecurity resilience. Axiata’s Cyber Fusion Center (ACFC) received the Initiative Award – Telecommunications at the Malaysia National Business Awards 2025, while its proprietary platform, HELIOS, earned the Cybersecurity – Telecommunications award at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2025. These accolades highlight Axiata’s leadership in developing cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions and safeguarding digital ecosystems.
Established in August 2022, the ACFC has emerged as one of Malaysia’s premier cybersecurity facilities. The centre integrates advanced technologies, expert personnel, and collaborative processes to offer comprehensive cyber defence capabilities. As part of its continuous innovation, Axiata introduced the HELIOS platform in August 2024, further enhancing its cybersecurity infrastructure. Designed as a patent-pending cyber platform, HELIOS improves threat attribution, operational security, and proactive defence measures, ensuring the protection of Malaysia’s digital assets while supporting Axiata’s extensive operations across 12 markets and multiple sectors.
HELIOS: Revolutionising Cybersecurity Innovation of Threat Detection
Axiata’s HELIOS platform has transformed cybersecurity operations by significantly reducing the time and resources required for threat detection and response. Previously, threat detection took up to 12 weeks, but with HELIOS, this has been reduced to just one week. By incorporating end-to-end automation, offensive security strategies, and real-time threat intelligence integration, the platform enhances proactive vulnerability management while seamlessly aligning with ACFC’s cybersecurity initiatives.
One of HELIOS’s standout features is its advanced dark web monitoring capabilities, which enable real-time detection of leaked credentials. This allows Axiata to implement preemptive security measures and prevent potential cyber threats before they escalate. The platform also reduces false positives, ensuring accurate threat identification and allowing security teams to focus on critical vulnerabilities. Through automation, HELIOS streamlines complex cybersecurity workflows, improving efficiency and enhancing the overall security posture.
Additionally, the platform incorporates a diverse suite of technologies, including DNS enumeration, open cloud container discovery, IP and subdomain tracking, phishing domain detection, and vulnerability scanning. HELIOS’s credential-gathering crawler enhances security by continuously monitoring the dark web for compromised data. With real-time monitoring and intuitive data visualisation, security teams can make informed decisions and respond swiftly to emerging cyber threats.

In October 2024, ACFC partnered with Perdana University to provide students with exclusive access to the facility’s world-class cybersecurity capabilities.
