National Collaboration Aims to Tackle Rising Cyber Threats
In a united front to strengthen the country’s cybersecurity framework, Advanced Info Service (AIS), Thailand’s leading digital service provider, has announced a sweeping collaboration with key national agencies including the Office of the National Security Council, launch Cybersecurity Year Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). The partnership, formally launched under the banner of the “Secure Network Alliance,” aims to position 2025 as Thailand’s official “Cybersecurity Year.”
The campaign calls on over 100 organizations from both public and private sectors to join forces in proactively mitigating cyber threats at their source. This strategic alliance aligns with the government’s national agenda to shield citizens from the escalating dangers of digital crime, threats that pose significant risks to Thailand’s economy and internal security. The overarching goal is to build a resilient digital infrastructure that protects individuals and institutions alike while promoting responsible technology use across the country.
Government Endorsement Underscores Urgency of Cybersecurity
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing national security in the face of rising cybercrime, especially call-center scams that have increasingly targeted the Thai population. He noted that the National Security Council is already operating along three key strategic pillars: developing and refining relevant legislation, improving coordination between law enforcement and regulatory agencies, and elevating national preparedness against digital threats.
This comprehensive approach underscores the government’s recognition that cybercrime is no longer just a technological issue but a matter of national security. The collaboration between AIS and state entities is viewed as a model for how public-private partnerships can mobilize resources and knowledge to protect citizens better.
AIS Leads Digital Literacy and Cyber Wellness Efforts
Somchai Lertsutiwong, Chief Executive Officer of AIS, reinforced the company’s commitment to fostering a safer digital environment through its mission “Cyber Wellness for THAIs.” As a key player in Thailand’s digital transformation, AIS is not only enhancing its network security infrastructure but also focusing on educating the public to strengthen “digital immunity.”
Key initiatives include the development of technological tools like the 1185 AIS Spam Report Center and the *1185# Aunjai Report platform, both designed to help users report and block scam calls and messages. AIS is also driving awareness through educational programs such as the Aunjai Cyber Course and the creation of a Thailand Cyber Wellness Index to measure progress in digital safety.
By aligning its efforts with national cybersecurity strategies and collaborating closely with law enforcement, AIS is setting a precedent in how private sector innovation can support public safety and digital literacy. The “Cybersecurity Year” initiative marks a critical step forward in creating a more secure and informed digital society in Thailand.
