Following the remarkable reception of its see-through Walkman-style cassette player, FiiO is set to captivate music enthusiasts once again. The DM13 marks a significant milestone as potentially the first new portable CD player to hit the market in over a decade, signaling a renewed interest in the CD format, reminiscent of the recent vinyl resurgence.
The DM13 portable CD player is a part of FiiO’s expanding collection of nostalgic audio devices, which already includes the CP13 portable cassette player and the recently launched TT13 turntable. This strategic lineup caters to the growing demand for retro music experiences with modern enhancements. The DM13 stands out with its aptX HD Bluetooth capability, balanced headphone output, and USB audio functionality, positioning itself as a versatile and high-quality audio device.

The FiiO DM13 is equipped with a range of features designed to deliver an exceptional audio experience. It boasts both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs, accommodating a wide array of headphones, including FiiO’s acclaimed FT5 Planar Magnetic headphones, the FT3, and the new FA19 in-ear monitors. This ensures that users can enjoy their music with optimal sound quality, regardless of their preferred headphone type.
A standout feature of the DM13 is its support for aptX HD Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless wireless connections to headphones or speakers. This flexibility is further enhanced by the dedicated analog line-out, enabling the DM13 to be integrated with various audio setups, such as Hi-Fi systems, active speakers, or portable radios with auxiliary inputs. Additionally, the DM13 includes an SPDIF digital output and USB audio output, expanding its compatibility with a wide range of audio equipment.
Design, Availability, and Pricing
The DM13’s design emphasizes portability and convenience. It comes with a built-in rechargeable battery that offers up to eight hours of playback time on a single charge. FiiO has announced that the DM13 will be available starting in September, priced at $179 / £179. Initially, the player will be offered in a sleek silver finish, with additional color options—red, blue, titanium, and black—scheduled for release later in the year. The DM13 is set to make its public debut at the CanJam event in London from July 20-21, where attendees will have the first opportunity to experience this innovative portable CD player.
